Hello, A few weeks ago the Debian Python Modules Team has been created to collaboratively maintain packages of Python modules. The upcoming changes are a good opportunity to invite all maintainers of python modules to join the team : - python 2.1 and 2.2 have been dropped from unstable [4] - python 2.4 will shortly be the default python version - the packaging will probaly evolve to facilitate transitions - python 2.5 alpha has been published The team will work very much like the Debian Perl Group[1] and the goals are similar except that we're going to work on python modules ;-) Please check out the little documentation: http://python-modules.alioth.debian.org/python-modules-policy.html If you want to join the team, please read the above document. Basically you need to subscribe to debian-python@lists.debian.org and ask there to be added to the python-modules alioth project[2]. Instructions on how to use the subversion repository[3] are in the documentation above too. There's also a #debian-python channel on OFTC where you can discuss with some members of the team. Every maintainer of python module is welcome in the team ! Cheers, [1] http://pkg-perl.alioth.debian.org [2] http://alioth.debian.org/projects/python-modules/ [3] http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-python/packages/ [4] Please consider helping out in fixing packages that still depend on python2.1/2.2: http://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2006/04/msg00012.html -- Raphaël Hertzog Premier livre français sur Debian GNU/Linux : http://www.ouaza.com/livre/admin-debian/
