If we were to implement such a system it would be good to have scripts to
restart only the daemon in question;  inetd cannot be restarted without
also restarting portmap.  I took the extract from the only system I have
seen which has such a system.  It used to be a Debian system although you
have to try hard to find any trace of that now.
