It's just one, then another one (they can do, why can't I), until at
some point it actually does need fixing... why not do it right from
the outset.

Pick a common subset of data most everyone uses and make allowances
for more capable menu generators to extend the basic data with their
specials.

Its the little bits of `we can just do this, its easy', tack'n and
hack'n that tend to make a mess of things eventually... why start down
that road.
