Does this affect the the use of \- in man page headings to facilitate
parsing by mandb? For example:

.SH "NAME"
frob\-foo \- frobnicate a foo

It looks like that shouldn't be ambiguous (you can split on " \- "), but
I'm not sure that's what actually happens.
