Indeed. Try recompiling the latest Evolution, for example. It depends
on imlib-dev (brings in png3), and it also depends on libgtkhtml-dev
(which eventually brings in png2, by way of libgnomeprint-dev and
libgdk-pixbuf-gnome-dev).
