Re: slib support and Scheme implementations



You might want to take a look at common-lisp-controller and similar efforts.
It's meant to handle both multiple compilers and arbitrary software packages
(not just a single one).  It has a number of problems (namely, recompiling
everything every time you upgrade a compiler, or recompiling the software on
every compiler everytime you upgrade it) some of which stem naturally from
recompilation on users' systems (and I don't see how you'd get around it
either).

I also don't see why this has to be restricted to only slib.  There are other
Scheme libraries out there which are or could be cross-implementation.
