Too bad the GNU autotools people didn't do this thing in a more sane way... Maintainers should be safe to "regen" (read copy) the files from /usr/share/automake/ to their build tree so as to guarantee they'll have the hppa and ia64 stuff, for example... Either that or have a package that provides an up-to-date /usr/share/automake/config.{guess,sub} and that libtool and automake depends on.
