re: remove desktop-profiles?

hello debian-desktop folks, we are pondering to remove
src:desktop-profiles from sid and bullseye, because:

doing so now. I've seen the higher popcon value too, and wondered why,
but still, I don't see any usecase left for desktop-profiles which
cannot be done better with XDG.

Do you see any reasons why the package should stay?
