Hi debian-desktop participants, hi debian-legal fellows, I've just noticed that a default theme was chosen for squeeze: http://lists.debian.org/debian-desktop/2010/11/msg00077.html The winner seems to be http://wiki.debian.org/DebianArt/Themes/SpaceFun The theme is nice and released under the GNU GPL v2: congratulations and thanks to Valessio Brito! However, I think there's an issue that would prevent its inclusion in Debian main, unless some images are modified. A number of images in this theme include a derivative work of the Debian Open Use Logo with "Debian": http://www.debian.org/logos/openlogo.svg which, unfortunately, does *not* comply with the DFSG: http://www.debian.org/logos/#open-use See http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2010/06/msg00009.html and several bugs (such as #603286, #587668, ...). I think those images in the SpaceFun theme should be modified so that only the swirl without "Debian" is used: http://www.debian.org/logos/openlogo-nd.svg This logo (without the "Debian" text) is DFSG-free, as it is released under the terms of the Expat license: http://www.debian.org/logos/#open-use P.S.: I am subscribed to -legal, but not to -desktop, please remember to Cc: -legal on replies. Thanks in advance! -- http://www.inventati.org/frx/progs/scripts/pdebuild-hooks.html Need some pdebuild hook scripts? ..................................................... Francesco Poli .
