Re: The Perfect Desktop

I have done that. If you like to see/read all of that, I have put all
source and binaries in:

ftp://ftp.latinomixed.com/downloads/debian-embelisher

Check the README and the "deb" directory for packages.

I have been using the Lilo menu (bitmap) plus bootsplash for some time
already (in all desktops I used). Plus, I compiled the kernel with
cryptography and cryptoloop built-in (I have no idea why the cryptoapi
source is included in Debian 2.4.x kernels, but not the cryptoloop,
which is essential).

But now that you are working on bootsplash, maybe we can join forces to
fix bootsplash problems. I have tried to talk to them at bootsplash.org
but I have got no response. It seems like a dead project...

Anyway, the problem is that if for some reason you hit an error while
booting, the bootsplash will go from silent to verbose. I would like to
set the patch so that the only way to go into verbose mode is pressing
ESC or F2, not because of something that happen. In other words, I don't
want to see boot messages. Let that be logged somewhere.
