The Specification will likely cause issues for Emdebian if it is based on the current guidelines because Emdebian is in a special situation with regard to Debian: 0: Emdebian is an official sub-project of Debian, so we are allowed to still use the Debian names, logos, images, branding etc. including the official use logo. 1: Emdebian still makes changes to Debian packages (some flavours of Emdebian are binary-compatible with Debian, some are not) and uses a version suffix (emN where N is a digit). 2: Emdebian does use the BTS, albeit we initially direct bug reports to a pseudo-package buildd.emdebian.org. 3: Where Emdebian retains ABI, popcon is also preserved. Yet Emdebian flavours are derivatives of Debian and our own special situation shouldn't detract from the (useful) guidelines for derivatives which operate at a greater distance from Debian.
