Bug#173510: debbugs: Utilize 'lurker' for web interface to BTS (not installed)

Package: debbugs
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist

What I wonder is, could 'lurker' be adapted to become part of
"debbugs"? Lurker does not like the underlying mbox file to be
changed in any way other than an append. Is that compatible with
debbugs, I wonder?

If you have not tried 'lurker', you really must do so! I've installed
it on our LUG web server; you can try it there:

 http://lists.pdxlinux.org/lurker/

Both the XML and HTML work fine in Mozilla and Galeon. It is
generating those pages on the fly straight from the mbox files. The
search functionality is truely wonderful.

You should also, of course, "apt-get source lurker" or grab a copy
from CVS at sourceforge, and take a look under the hood.

Certainly the archive threading it does and some trickery with
"In-Reply-To" munging and reindexing could do what you want for bug
merges? Hmmm. Anyway, just thought I'd drop you a note and see if
you've heard of it and also had a look into it.

(also see Mantis -- http://bugs.pdxlinux.org/ is a sample of what it can do.)
