The version of xdebconfigurator in unstable already have a base-config
menu entry, and I believe it is working as it should. Not sure what
more you need. If xdebconfigurator is installed, it is available from
base-config, and can also be told with an hidden debconf question to
generate the XFree86 configuration file when the machine boots.
In other words, if it is installed, it is used too.
