Steve, you've sufficiently proven that TeX won't support your needs, so there's no need to continue to justify your decision to use OOo.

This thread has descended into a discussion of personal preferences, e.g. "blue is the nicest color." It looks like the thread is dying.

However, the discussion of options for long-document creation is informative to some people.
