Hi all,

here's my understanding of the state of our "TC chair appointment"
discussion.

In June 2014, in <21420.15439.20061.525596@chiark.greenend.org.uk>, Ian
described a problem he wanted to see fixed in the constitution:

Le jeudi, 26 juin 2014, 16.29:19 Ian Jackson a écrit :
> The TC chair arrangements have what is arguably a bug, which is that

As far as I could find, this mail didn't get answered, either way, let's
use this bug to consider this proposal.

We have committed the following to git:

Appointment of the Chair of the CTTE
------------------------------------

In general, the procedure in §6.1.7 should be followed.

Re-appointment of chair after membership change
===============================================

When new members are appointed to the CTTE or within three months of a
member resigning from the CTTE, the current chairperson should
announce their intention to vacate the position within two weeks.

This will force a new election to which all members of the CTTE
(including the vacating chair if the chair is still a member) are
eligible.
