Bug#727708: Call for Votes on init system coupling
Russ Allbery dixit:
>But when providing project-wide guidance, we have an obligation to worry
>about the error conditions as well. If multiple logind implementations do
>*not* materialize, or if they do materialize but then people lose interest
I question why logind is needed in the first place.
Current-day systems are getting way too complex and complicated;
we did not need something like this a few months ago either.
*That’s* what my problem with systemd is.
----
Real follow-up question: will a user be able to install jessie
with anything but systemd as init? (As opposed to an upgrade
from wheezy, which will work anyway.) And what about jessie+1?
Thanks,
