I’m only speaking for myself here, but I’m not OK with Matthias as part
of the core team.

If you really want to start afresh, you should consider pushing your
reasoning to the limit: including only people that are OK by both
Matthias and the people who appealed. That list includes neither
Matthias nor myself.

That would be fair. And that would ensure that people would try to think
up new solutions out of the box, instead of re-hashing arguments from
the past.
