Coming up with a (even untested) patch (or better merge request on
https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest) would be a great way of
moving this forward. Even a merge request that says, "# autopkgtest
should now do something like 'apt blalbla' here" is already easier to
discuss than by words in this thread.

I am rather involved in several corner cases in autopkgtest at the
moment already, so taking this along my be easier then with some clear
hints.

By the way, do we have any feeling is the aspcud solver for APT does
better (or worse) in this case? I am still wondering if we want that
solver as a fall-back or if we could even use that by default (that
would be more tempting if this bug would be solved by it as well).
