If the simple import test runs against all available Python versions (in
practice, that will be only Python 3) then it might still be worth it, as any
additional tests may e.g. only run against 'python3' i.e. the default Python 3
version. Import tests against all Python 3 versions might be useful during
transitions.
But I get your point.
If it's still worth doing, then I like your suggestion in the second paragraph
above.
