Anyone tried configuring SCSI disk driver in VMWare?

Hi, all

I'd like to build a light kernel without burden of those unnecessary modules, so I removed initrd support and compiled necessary drivers into the kernel. However, I finally failed to mount my SCSI disk during the boot process.
And I got
"VFS: Cannot open root device "sda1" or 08:01"
"Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01"

Anyone has any idea? Thanks in advance!

I'm currently running Linux 2.4.27 in VMware workstation 5.0
