Bug#165385: Please make debian-chinese-{big5,gb} subscribers-only with moderators
Dear Debian Listmasters,
Happy New Year! :-)
Please be reminded of this bug report, and please deal with this issue
at your earliest convenience. The spam problem on
debian-chinese-{big5,gb} is getting worse and worse day by day! The
signal-to-spam ratio has dropped to less than 10%. Fellow subscribers
have voiced their concerns and frustration over the non-improvement of
the spam problem. Many potential contributors shy away from
subscribing in order to avoid spam. Even I, as a Debian Chinese
developer, is starting to loath reading debian-chinese-* lists. It is
becoming more and more like picking out small pieces of food from a
large garbage pile of spam.
So, please do take the time to modify the mailing list server config
file(s) to make these lists subscribers-only while allowing Ben Luo and
myself to be the list moderators to allow non-spam non-subscriber
postings. If there is any difficulty in implementing this change,
please drop us a short note to let us know.
Many thanks,
Anthony Fok
Chinese i18n/L10n developer, Debian Project
