xserver problem

请教各位关于 xserver 的问题。
这个问题困扰我很久了，一直找不到解决的方法，而且看网路上相关的讨论
似乎没有人遇到同样的问题，所以提出来，希望大家帮我看看我那里做错了。
我的系统是 unstable ，安装了里面的xserver 套件，却发现无法使用XFree86 4.x
目前的状况是
1.若使用 xf86config 来设定 XF86config，那么执行 startx 时，会出现不认识
  directive 的错误讯息,比如说unknow section Input Device .....等
2.若使用 xf86config-v3 来设定，就可以顺利启动 xwindows

我确定安装了最新的 
xserver-common,xbase-clients
不过在安装 XF86_SVGA 时会同时安装 xserver-common-v3
不知道这是不是问题所在??

我使用的显示卡是 ATI expert 2000 RAGE 128
