View chinese in Pan..

Hello,


        I'm using Pan to read newsgroup,however,I find that I can't
see Chinese for the chinese message. 

        I have tried the following...
1. Choose chinese fonts in edit preference.. (Result in display only
chinese word but no english)

2. in ~/.gnome/Pan
Change 


message_body_font=-adobe-times-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1

to 
message_body_font=-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*,
                  -default-mingli-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-big5-0

or

message_body_font=-*-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-c-*-*-*


but still don't work..

I try objdump -T `which pan` 
and find a variable "use_gdk_fontset_load" there..
but don't know if there is anyway to set it as true... :(
