work around broken C++ compiler on Alpha, also instantiate
Vector<size_t> on Alpha since sizeof(size_t) != sizeof(int). This
can't be done on 32-bit archs since gcc 2.95 will complain about
multiple instantiations, however it has to be done on 64-bit ones -
this is just a quick hack, upstream needs to fix it by checking the
size of size_t in their configure script.

that patch does not affect any other architectures, this should be
included in Potato.

Comment from upstream: "The `-l' option should never have been documented,
and it was a mistake to include it in the first place -- it screws up the
grammar. Old Bourne shells and test commands had it because there was no
other way to find the length of a variable's value. Since bash has
${#variable}, there's no need for it. POSIX.2 says, in the rationale,
that implementation is irregular and that the shell supports it directly.

Comment from upstream: This is not a bash bug; it is a process resource
problem. The default resource limit for stack size is 8M on my version of
Linux. The call tree created by the parser for the script (100000 calls
to `:') is 99999 nodes deep, and requires that many recursive calls to the
command execution routines. This overflows the stack, and bash segfaults.
I couldn't reproduce it anywhere but Linux, because the machines I tested
on all have reasonable default stack sizes. Raising the limit to 16M is
sufficient to cause the script to run successfully (I didn't try anything
between 8M and 16M).

* Oppsss! samba-common doesn't depend on libcupsys1 so the binaries
in this package are broken unless libcupsys1 is installed.
samba-common has a "grave" bug because of this. Instead of adding
libcupsys1 to the Depends: list of each package in debian/control
I investigated why dh_shlibs was not picking the dependency
automatically. It turns out that it's probably a bug in libcupsys1
because the format of its shlibs file is not correct. I fixed that
file (/var/lib/dpkg/info/libcupsys1.shlibs) and now dependencies are
picked correctly. I'll talk to the libcupsys1 maintainer.
I think the addition of CUPS support to Samba is a big change that
should not go into Frozen. So, I decided to back up the addition
of CUPS support I did in 2.0.6-4 to minimize problems. I'll add
CUPS support again when I start working on Samba for Woody.
