New Debian i386 Packages

These i386 packages were installed into the Debian hierarchy in the
last week:

----- !!! HIGH URGENCY PACKAGES !!! -----

glutg3+ggi - Mesa 3.0's GLUT with GGI targets built in [libc6]
glutg3+ggi-dev - Headers and development libraries for GGI GLUT
mesag3+ggi - Mesa 3.0 with GGI targets built in [libc6]
mesag3+ggi-dev - Header files for the GGI version of Mesa 3.0
glutg3+ggi-dev 3.0-3 -> 3.0-4 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/devel
glutg3+ggi 3.0-3 -> 3.0-4 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/libs
mesag3+ggi-dev 3.0-3 -> 3.0-4 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/devel
mesag3+ggi 3.0-3 -> 3.0-4 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/libs
mesag3+ggi (3.0-4) unstable; urgency=high
  * GGI 2.0 beta 2 broke source and binary compatibility! Fixed.

----- MEDIUM Urgency Packages -----------

hwtools - Collection of tools for low-level hardware management
hwtools 0.3-4 -> 0.4-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/utils
hwtools (0.4-1) unstable; urgency=medium
  * Package is orphaned, changed the maintainer to Debian QA Group.
  * Completely redid the packaging (using debhelper), fixing a few bugs.
  * Reduced the diff size to normal by updating the .orig archive with
    latest version of irqtune. I think I didn't overwrite any Debian
    patches, but there is a small possibility.
  * Applied several patches from the BTS, from Rob Browning, Michael
    Booth and Jim Studt. Didn't apply Kai Henningsen's one because it
    seems that Rob's already fixed those errors.
  * Replaced all instances of /tmp/<something> in all files containing
    them, with /var/run/<something>, to prevent any symlink /tmp races.
    That is the main reason why the urgency is set to medium.
  * New upstream version of memtest86, 1.4a.
  * New programs included:
    + sraw: benchmark raw SCSI I/O rates bypassing the buffer cache.
    + scsistop: low-level SCSI drive start/stop program.
    + scsi-spin: program to manually spin up and down a SCSI device.
  * Documented inclusion of qic02conf (program that sets hardware
    parameters of the QIC-02 interface), together with a lot of
    cosmetic (but practical) changes in debian/* files.

ippl       - IP protocols logger
ippl 1.4.4-1 -> 1.4.5-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/net
ippl (1.4.5-1) unstable; urgency=medium
  * New upstream: fixes a buffer overflow problem.

----- Low Urgency Packages --------------

a2ps - GNU a2ps 'Anything to PostScript' converter and pretty-printer
a2ps 4.12-1 -> 4.12-2 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/text
a2ps (4.12-2) unstable; urgency=low, Closes=35050
  * [debian/texi2dvi4a2ps] Updated to new version (fixes #35050)

ae         - Anthony's Editor -- a tiny full-screen editor
ae 962-21.1 -> 962-23 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/base
ae (962-23) unstable; urgency=low
  * Set up "fake" vi mode to work with update-alternatives instead of script.
  * * Use a wrapper script, ae.vi.sh, to use the correct rc file.
  * * Set update-alternatives to call the script for calls to vi.
  * * Set priority for update-alternatives to -20 for immediate replacement.
  * This should fix the problem for the HURD caused by the original script.

alien - Install Red Hat, Stampede, and Slackware Packages with dpkg.
alien 6.31 -> 6.32 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/admin
alien (6.32) unstable; urgency=low
  * Dropped in diff files for the XBF-i740 xserver, thanks to Agustín
    Martín <agmartin@aq.upm.es>

alien - Install Red Hat, Stampede, and Slackware Packages with dpkg.
alien 6.32 -> 6.33 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/admin
alien (6.33) unstable; urgency=low
  * Fixes for rpm 3.0:
    - Since rpm --showrc has changed to a format that is now very
      difficult to machine parse for the topdir value, don't. Instead,
      force rpm to output the rpm into the cirrent directory. This is
      more consistent anyway.
    - Detect rpm version and use --target or --buildarch appropriatly.
    - Fixed alien.rpm's own build process to work again (stupid macro
      substitutions...).

anacron - a cron-like program that doesn't go by time
anacron 2.0.1-2 -> 2.0.1-3 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/admin
anacron (2.0.1-3) unstable; urgency=low
  * New maintainer (finally)

  * closes: 32852

apsfilter - A lineprinter input filter for systems with lpd/lpr
apsfilter 5.0.1-1 -> 5.0.1-2 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/text
apsfilter (5.0.1-2) unstable; urgency=low
  * bin/apsfilter: Fixed a big typo.
  * bin/apsfilter: Print errors on stderr instead of /dev/console.
    (This way they'll be properly logged.)

base-files - Debian Base System Miscellaneous Files
base-files 2.1.5 -> 2.1.6 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/base
base-files (2.1.6) unstable; urgency=low
  * preinst: Do not fiddle with /etc/issue.net anymore.
  * Changed the way /cdrom, /floppy and /initrd are handled.
    These directories will now be created by postinst in the initial install.
    This is a compromise after discussing in debian-policy about Bug #35928.
    It will save people who like them the work of creating them after
    installing a new system, and it will save people who dislike them the
    work of removing them every time base-files is upgraded.
    Since these directories are only a convenience for the user, who
    is free to use them or not, the spirit of FHS is preserved.
  * preinst and postinst: Following the principle of least surprise,
    added code so that existing directories are not removed when upgrading
    this package from previous releases.

bezerk - GTK based IRC client
bezerk 0.3.2-3 -> 0.3.2-4 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/net
bezerk (0.3.2-4) unstable; urgency=low
  * Recompiled for glibc2.1.

bsdmainutils 4.5.1 -> 4.5.2 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/utils
bsdmainutils (4.5.2) unstable; urgency=low
  * Remove whois; recommend new whois package.
  * write.c: if mytty begins with "/dev/", remove it; fixes write's
    choice of tty when writing to onesself.

cdgrab - Grabs an entire CD and converts each track to MP3
cdgrab 0.6.1-1 -> 0.6.2-1 into dists/potato/contrib/binary-i386/sound
cdgrab (0.6.2-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * New release, closes: bug #35379, bug #36272

chimera2   - Web browser for X
chimera2 2.0a15-2 -> 2.0a17-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/web
chimera2 (2.0a17-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * New upstream version (should fix #25912)
  * Recompiled against libpng2 (#26922)
  * debian/control: Provides www-browser (#27916)

clisp - a Common Lisp implementation
clisp 1998-09-09-2 -> 1999-01-08-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/interpreters
clisp (1999-01-08-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * Changed bytecode format. All .fas files generated by previous CLISP
    versions are invalid and must be recompiled.
  * installed {bytecode,impnotes}.html in clisp/doc/html (closes bug #33038).
  * recompiled for glibc2.1 (closes: #35653)
  * added fixed m68k syntax (probably closes: #28975)

crossfire (0.95.3-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * New upstream version
  	+ Biggest change for Debianers: the /var/lib directory was split
      to be more FHS compliant and I took advantage of that. Maps
      and artifacts and archtypes and all such files are now looked
      for in /usr/share/crossfire/*. Players, highscores, temp maps
      and "unique item saves" are all that are stored in /var/lib/*
      now.
  * I am running a server at benham.net..  It's pretty much straight
    out of the deb and I use it to test my deb. It might, therefore,
    not be 100% reliable but it's a place to play.

ctwm - Claude's Tab Window Manager
ctwm 3.5-9 -> 3.5-10 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/x11
ctwm (3.5-10) unstable; urgency=low
  * Edit extended description again (better explanation of package name)
  * Ship /etc/menu-methods/ctwm with execute bits on (the postinst chmodded
    it anyway, but...)
  * Lintian 1.2-1 seal of approval.

ctwm - Claude's Tab Window Manager

    /usr/include/X11/pixmaps/
  * Comment out IconDirectory in example file lynx.ctwmrc

  * A few other cosmetic tweaks invisible to the binary package
  * Imakefile: change PIXMAP_DIRECTORY to /usr/include/X11/pixmaps

debbugs - The bug tracking system based on the active Debian BTS
debbugs 2.1-1 -> 2.2-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/misc

    number because of the new program
  * Simplified debdiff's exit values

  * Python/Makefile.in: getplatform.pic_o, importdl.pic_o need their
    own rules (closes Bug#36249: python-base: sys.platform has value
    'unknown').
  * libpython1.5 is now built as shared library (closes Bug#7696:
    python should be built with thread / shared library support and
    close Bug#29324: python-base: missing libpython.so). [This
    was really done in 1.5.2-1.]

    /usr/lib/X11/rgb.txt as requested by FSSTND.
    Patch submitted to Pynche's author Barry Warsaw.

    "GCC egcs-2.91.66 Debian GNU/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)"
    This fixes the startup message, which was cut off.
  * Minor fixes to make the packages lintian-error-free:

roxen-ssl - SSL3 modules for the Roxen Challenger Webserver
roxen-ssl 1.2.46-6 -> 1.2.46-8 into dists/potato/contrib/binary-all/web
roxen 1.2.46-6 -> 1.2.46-8 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/web
roxen (1.2.46-8) unstable; urgency=low
  * Move the 'dont_restart' file to /usr/lib/roxen instead, othervice
    Roxen will think it is a config file for a virtual server...
    _IF_ the file exists in /etc/roxen, move it to /usr/lib/roxen instead.
  * Fixed the 'NOMODULE' lintian warning in some of the business graphic pike
    scripts.
  * Fixed the 0666 mode on all of the Accesslog's. Set them to 0644 instead,
    and have the main logdir as mode 4755.
  * Don't depend on that the pike directory is 'pike-0.6.110' in the same dir
    as the roxen dep source directory. Do a find to find the correct name so
    that we link correctly in the pike directory... Double check to make sure
    that the directory exists, exit 1 otherwise.
  * Found out that we first write the 'pike' pid, THEN the 'start' pid. This
    means that when shutting down, the pike is killed, and restarted at once
    by the 'start' process. We have to kill the 'start' process first THEN
    the pike process, that way no Roxen process will be hanging around. Maybe
    NOW I have found all the 'pid bugs'... Yeah, right! I've heard that before :)
  * Added some notes about the roxen-pike* packages. They should be replaced with
    the pike* packages for best effect...
  * Forgot the ssl3.pike patch from IMHO.
  * Removed all depends on roxen-pike* packages. Only depend on the pike* packages,
    since I have been getting reports that Roxen don't work very well with the roxen-pike
    stuff (It was several versions since I build those. They where pike 0.5, and I
    now build Roxen against pike 0.6).
  * roxen-ssl should depend on pike-crypto instead of pike-ssl (the depend where
    made BEFORE the pike crypto packages existed, and I didn't know what hallon
    would call the package).
