These i386 packages were installed into the Debian hierarchy in the
last week:

----- !!! HIGH URGENCY PACKAGES !!! -----

apsfilter - A lineprinter input filter for systems with lpd/lpr
apsfilter 5.1.2-2 -> 5.1.3-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-all/text
apsfilter (5.1.3-1) unstable; urgency=high
  * New upstream version. Closes: Bug#43695.
  * Disabled the LPRng bounce queues patch since it was causing
    problems for some users. I'll let upstream decide how it should
    be implemented.  Closes: Bug#42157.
  * Cleaned up Debian-specific patches.
  * debian/copyright: Updated upstream URL.
  * Conforms to Standards version 3.0.1:
    * Changed debian/copyright to reference

  * A different, better fix for the MAILTO problem, thanks to Olaf Kirch.

cron - management of regular background processing
cron 3.0pl1-51 -> 3.0pl1-52 into dists/potato/main/binary-i386/admin
cron (3.0pl1-52) unstable; urgency=high
  * Patch to fix "Reverse DoS": user could send arbitrary options to
  sendmail via MAILTO variable. Fix by not allowing spaces or leading
  dashes in MAILTO, and run sendmail as user, not root.

dpkg - Package maintenance system for Debian Linux
dpkg-dev - Package building tools for Debian Linux
dpkg-dev 1.5.4 -> 1.5.5 into project/experimental
dpkg 1.5.4 -> 1.5.5 into project/experimental
dpkg (1.5.5) experimental; urgency=high
  Major bugfix:
  * Do not chmod(".../path/to/symlink",0600) causing many bad perms.
  Improvements:
  * dpkg -RF, filename parsing feature (thanks Richard Kettlewell).
  Minor bugfixes:
  * Remove GCC 2.9x compiler warnings - but erroneous warnings remain.
  * dpkg-deb -b: Allow control directory to have setgid bit set.
  * Made hd.setup method script #!/usr/bin/perl (not /bin/perl).
  * Fixed references to 'option' instead of 'method' in programmer.sgml.
  * varbufprintf (used for some error messages) vsnprintf return value
    assumption changed to correspond to reality rather than glibc-doc.
  * Better example in md5sum.1 (thanks Zygo Blaxell).
  * Print '0' in dpkg-scanpackages if no packages found.

isdnutils 3.0-9 -> 3.0-12slink13 into dists/slink/main/binary-i386/net
isdnutils (1:3.0-12slink13) stable; urgency=high
  * build of 3.0-13 for slink, as this is fixes a security problem (see next
    point).
  * don't install xmonisdn as setuid root. It calls shell scripts in a
    non-secure way. It's better to have the user be in group dialout.
  * now compiles with glibc2. I left this too long in the pipeline, sorry.
    This also closes:#36975
  * isdnlog now should handle the german "cityweekend" option correctly.
    closes:#39002
  * the init.d script calls MAKEDEV to create the interface devices if
    necessary (the default is to only create the first 8 devices).
    closes:#39149
  * xisdnload now handles more than one simultaneous connection correctly.
  * isdnctrl 'status' command added.
  * ipppd should now work with 2.3.x kernels (SIOCGIFCONF ioctl failed).
  * ipppd now has support for negotiating ms-dns and ms-wins values.
  * let ipppd ignore errors when adding routes if the error is that the route
    already exists (particular to kernel 2.2.x apparently).
  * Due to the great perl reshuffle, the location of the uudecode script
    (in /usr/doc/perl*) isn't fixed anymore, so I've implemented some magic
    (/usr/doc/perl? /usr/doc/perl-5.005-doc?)
  * Changed configure.in here and there to handle new 2.2.x isdn.h that
    also references isdn_compat.h
  * Last version in this form. After this I'm going to split isdnutils up,
    and probably change around the config script for the devices to take
    advantage of isdnctrl's capability of reading a config from a file.

procmail 3.10.7-7 -> 3.13.1-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-i386/mail
procmail (3.13.1-1) stable unstable; urgency=high
  * New upstream release, 3.13 missed a couple possible overflows.
  * Applied `procmail-locking.patch' from Bruce Guenter, since
    no directory delivery mechanism requires locking (Bug #35210).

  * Prepared with the PAM of glibc 2.1, closes: #36742, #38562.

  * Fixed symlink attack against postinst. Installation of arbitrary files
    into the filesystme, and probably overwriting of arbitrary files are
    possible if exploited.
  * I fixed the attack by requiring root drop the file into /root. I removed
    the permissions checking on the file, since it is now in a directory
    only root can write to.

    access to /tmp.)
  * Package is orphaned; changed maintainer to `Debian QA Group'.
  * Wrote manual pages for smtp-refuser(8) and smtp-refuserconfig(8).
    Closes: Bug#18391.
  * Changed debian/postrm and smtp-refuserconfig to use tempfile(1).

man-db (2.3.10-69FIX.1) stable; urgency=low
  * In man-db -69FIX.1:
   * Added unlink of temporary file between call to tempnam and open to
     reduce (without completely avoiding it) the possibility that a
     malicious user puts a dangling symlink to let man leave a file
     (with a manpage inside :-) in places different that the temporary
     directory. Not a security risk at all, IMO.
   * Added secure open of temporary file in zsoelim.l , thanx to
     Marc Heuse <marc@suse.de>. The code was not secure against a
     symlink attack. This didn't affect 'man', which does not excute
     that part of the code, but only manual execution of zsoelim.
  * In man-db -69:	(Sun, 29 Nov 1998 01:01:54 +0200)
   * Corrected wrong set of terminal modes even when "not-a-tty".

  * It turns out it's possible to set up make variables that are specific to

    DH_OPTIONS: no need to put "-i" or "-pfoo" after every debhelper command
    anymore.

    commands.

    be used perfectly well without them, it's just touch_newsgroups that
    needs them.
  * preinst now checks arguments and only performs actions on install or
    upgrade.
  * Back out FHS /usr/doc move while the technical committee works out
    a method for carrying it out. *sigh*
  * Fix typo in leafnode-config (spotted by Vesa Kaihlavirta <dali@nic.fi>).
  * Update standards version to 3.0.1 (no changes).

man-db (2.3.10-69FIX.1) stable; urgency=low
  * In man-db -69FIX.1:
  * In man-db -69:	(Sun, 29 Nov 1998 01:01:54 +0200)
   * Corrected wrong set of terminal modes even when "not-a-tty".

  * patch #001a: Ben Collins simplified the Sun mouse code quite a bit
  * patch #008: SPARC does still need a bit of patching to mach64im.c after
    all (much less than before, though); thanks to Ben Collins for this patch
  * patch #024: new; fix xkbcomp.c to prevent a symlink clobbering attack
  * debian/control: xbase-clients Conflicts: with versions of XFree86 font
    packages that pre-date the migration to the new fonts.{alias,scale}
    handling method; this is to ensure that no clobbering of these files
    occurs (Closes: #40452)
  * debian/rules: staggeringly inelegant (but harmless) kludge to ensure
    that debian/setperms is executable and executed -- every time -- period
  * debian/sys-build.mk: remove the "sanescripts" thing, my new rules
    kludge makes it unnecessary
  * debian/xterm/postinst: change so we don't depend on the "members"
    command to determine the existence of the utmp group (Closes: #43647)

    recursion (#38811).
  * Add mailcap entries for more image types (#35872).
  * Extend mime entry to check for "screen" (#34842, #34843).
  * Add "needsterminal" flag to mailcap entries, as zgv appears to need to
    run in the foreground (#35929). This is a workaround rather than a
    fix, the real problem seems to be that zgv won't run in the background.
