man-db 2.3.10-68 -> 2.3.10-69FIX.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/doc
man-db (2.3.10-69FIX.1) stable; urgency=low
  * In man-db -69FIX.1:
   * Added unlink of temporary file between call to tempnam and open to
     reduce (without completely avoiding it) the possibility that a
     malicious user puts a dangling symlink to let man leave a file
     (with a manpage inside :-) in places different that the temporary
     directory. Not a security risk at all, IMO.
   * Added secure open of temporary file in zsoelim.l , thanx to
     Marc Heuse <marc@suse.de>. The code was not secure against a
     symlink attack. This didn't affect 'man', which does not excute
     that part of the code, but only manual execution of zsoelim.
  * In man-db -69:	(Sun, 29 Nov 1998 01:01:54 +0200)
   * Corrected wrong set of terminal modes even when "not-a-tty".
     (thanx to Alessandro Rubini for the report)

man2html 1.5-18 -> 1.5-18.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/doc
man2html (1.5-18.1) stable; urgency=high
  * Non maintainer upload by Security Team
  * Ported back security fix from 1.5-19 that fixed a tmp file creation
    bug
  * Uses tempfile to create file in tmp in postinst
  * Added dependency to debianutils therefore
  * Corrected maintainer address
  * Corrected broken menu file

netbase - Basic TCP/IP networking binaries
netbase 3.15-4 -> 3.16-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-sparc/base
netbase (3.16-1) unstable; urgency=high
  * New upstream version: ipchains 1.3.9 (was 1.3.8) (Closes: Bug#37005)
  * New upstream version: ipchains-scripts 1.1.2 (was 1.0.2)
  * Now includes netfilter; but only in the source package for the time
    being. (So I don't know how to compile it yet. Sue me)
  * Split TCP wrappers to its own packages (libwrap0, libwrap0-dev, tcpd).
    This creates a shared library (and accompanying -dev package) for
    TCP wrappers, links the various binaries to that library, adds a
    dependency from libwrap.so.0 to libnsl.so.1, hopefully compiles
    better on HURD now, and adds a reference to hosts_options(5) in the
    hosts_access(5) manpage.
    (Closes: Bug#15311, Bug#33677, Bug#33085, Bug#37797)
  * Recompiled with gcc 2.95-1 (Closes: Bug#38978)
  * /etc/init.d/netbase: Removed.
  * /etc/init.d/inetd: Created /etc/init.d/inetd which handles stopping and
    starting inetd.
  * /etc/init.d/networking: Created networking startup file: rcS.d,
    priority 40 (just after /etc/rcS.d/S40network). Sets up spoof
    protection and runs `ifup -a' on start, and `ifdown -a' on stop.
    /etc/init.d/netbase now does nothing but start and stop inetd.
    (Closes: Bug#39118, Bug#43310)
  * /etc/network/spoof-protect: configuration file to encourage people to
    actually get spoof protection to work. (Closes: Bug#17424, Bug#39265)
  * postinst: Added opportunity to configure /etc/network/spoof-protect.
  * preinst: As well as complaining about chargen and echo, complain about
    time/udp and daytime/udp also. (Closes: Bug#17424, Bug#39265) (Yes,
    these two bugs got fixed in two different ways.)
  * copyright: Rearranged the summary in the copyright file and listed
    the authors, since they are the copyright holders after all.
  * /etc/services:
        Changed name of pop-2/pop-3 (109,110/tcp,udp) to pop2, pop3, with
          pop-2, pop-3 as aliases. (Closes: Bug#42108)
        Added rmiregistry (1099/tcp) service for Java (Closes: Bug#42346)
        Added nqs (607/tcp) service for generic-nqs (Closes: Bug#42594)
        Added customs (1001/tcp,udp) service for pmake (Close: Bug#43423)

open - start a program on a new virtual terminal (VT)
open 1.4-10 -> 1.4-10.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-alpha/admin
open 1.4-10 -> 1.4-10.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/admin
open (1.4-10.1) stable; urgency=low
  * Backed out half the changes made in version -10, which made open not
    work at all. This is a very belated upload to stable, because so many
    people have been reporting this problem of late. Fixes #37441, #37395,
    #37288, #35481, and approximatly 10 other independant reports of the
    problem.
  * This is an exact duplicate of the changes made in open -11 in unstable,
    which have received 7 months of testing. Please let it in!

procmail   - Versatile e-mail processor.
procmail 3.10.7-7 -> 3.13.1-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/mail
procmail (3.13.1-1) stable unstable; urgency=high

    no directory delivery mechanism requires locking (Bug #35210).

proftpd 1.2.0pre2-6 -> 1.2.0pre4-1 into dists/potato/main/binary-sparc/net

  * New upstream version, fixing remote root exploit.
  * Prepared with the PAM of glibc 2.1, closes: #36742, #38562.
  * Note: the README.Solaris2.5x is included as humor, illustrating how
    bad non-free OSes can be, closes: #36540.
  * Fixed segfault possibility in mysql module.
  * Updated to Standards-Version 3.0.1.0.
  * Conflicts with and provides ftp-server, closes: #42407.
  * Added dependency on libpam-modules.

samba (2.0.5a-1) stable; urgency=high
  * Reupload indo stable alias proposed-updates since all former tries
    failed.
  * I'm back from the Honey Moon. We are pretty busy because we are moving
    to Pittsburgh (from Caracas, Venezuela) in aprox. 24 hours and we still
    have plenty of things to pack and to do. Samba 2.0.5 was released
    while I was in the Honey Moon and it is just now (almost 3 AM) when
    I have time to package it.
  * Because of the security problems fixed in 2.0.5, this upload goes
    to both stable and unstable (the Security Team asked for this).
  * This release (2.0.5a-1) was compiled on a Slink system. 2.0.5a-2 will
    be compiled on a Potato system.
  * Added a "Replaces: samba (<= 1.9.18p10-7)" to the samba-common
    section in debian/control (as suggested by Steve Haslam
    <araqnid@debian.org>) to fix the problems that appear when upgrading
    from the Samba package in Slink. Please test this as I am completely
    unable to do so. This should fix bug #39818 (Upgrading Samba from the
    Slink version).
  * Removed the hacks to the autoconf stuff that I added to 2.0.4b-2 in
    order to have defined several socket options when compiling with
    Linux 2.2.x kernel headers - the fix is now upstream.
  * Finally!!! smbmount was re-written (thanks Tridge :-) to use a command
    line syntax similar to the one used by the old smbmount (for 2.0.x
    kernels). This means that the wrapper script is no longer necessary
    so I removed it. In its place there is a simple wrapper script that
    calls smbmount-2.0.x or smbmount-2.2.x depending on the kernel that is
    running.
  * Because of the wedding, the Honey Moon, and our move to Pittsburgh,
    I can't work on fixing other bugs in this release.

smtp-refuser - Simple spam-block with refusal message
smtp-refuser 1.0.0 -> 1.0.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-alpha/mail

  * Disabled logging of received commands to /tmp/log. (This allowed
    deleting arbitrary, root-owned files by any user who has write
    access to /tmp.)
  * Package is orphaned; changed maintainer to `Debian QA Group'.
  * Wrote manual pages for smtp-refuser(8) and smtp-refuserconfig(8).
    Closes: Bug#18391.
  * Changed debian/postrm and smtp-refuserconfig to use tempfile(1).
  * There's no point in including an empty smtp-refuser.conf in the
    package.  Removed debian/conffiles.  Appropriately changed
    debian/postrm and debian/rules.
  * Removed obsolete dh_du from debian/rules.
  * Added `set -e' to debian/postinst and debian/postrm.
  * Conforms to standards version 2.5.0.0.
  * Changed `mail-refuser' in the greeting message to `smtp-refuser'.
  * Corrected a typo in debian/control.
  * Added newlines to debian/README.debian.
  * Converted some tabs to spaces and vice-versa in smtp-refuser.c
    (some parts assumed 8-space tabs, and some 4-space tabs).

  * It turns out it's possible to set up make variables that are specific to

    DH_OPTIONS: no need to put "-i" or "-pfoo" after every debhelper command
    anymore.

    commands.
