New Debian m68k Packages

These m68k packages were installed into the Debian hierarchy in the
last week:

----- !!! HIGH URGENCY PACKAGES !!! -----

boot-floppies - Scripts to create the Debian installation floppy set.
boot-floppies 2.0.6 -> 2.0.7 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies 2.0.6 -> 2.0.7 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies (2.0.7) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * Uses new kernel 2.0.34.
  * Added new lowmem boot disk.
  * base system: Lots of new tasks and profiles by Christian Meder.
  * base system: new dpkg, pppconfig.
  * base system: removed qftp, added usr/bin/ftp again (qftp segfaults).
  * dinstall/bootconfig.c: checks for valid boot partition.
  * dinstall: Some patches by Jim Myntha to improve the look of the
    installation system.
  * dinstall: added i18n patch by Christophe Le Bars.
  * rescue: new syslinux.

boot-floppies - Scripts to create the Debian installation floppy set.
boot-floppies 2.0.7 -> 2.0.8 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies 2.0.7 -> 2.0.8 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies (2.0.8) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * Uses new dpkg (--force-overwrite on).

bplay - Buffered audio file player/recorder
bplay 0.96-6 -> 0.96-7 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/sound
bplay 0.96-6 -> 0.96-7 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/sound
bplay (0.96-7) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * New maintainer
  * Removed suid from the binary. This is not needed, and is a possible
    security risk. Furthermore, it allowed any user on the system to play
    sound, and maybe even spy on you by recording from the microphone!
    Instead people allowed to this should be in group sound.

dwww - Read all on-line documentation via WWW
dwww 1.4.3-1 -> 1.4.3.2-0.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/doc
dwww 1.4.3.2-0.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/doc
dwww (1.4.3.2-0.1) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * Fix use of /tmp for tempfiles in a lot of places: tempfiles are now
    created in /var/spool/dwww. Also fixed earlier "fix" that used
    /var/lib/dwww for tempfiles. This should fix the errors from various
    dwww-* tools that also caused cron.daily/dwww to send a daily complaint
    mail to root.  (Bug#16212)
  * Install the dwww cgi script in /usr/lib/cgi-bin instead of /usr/lib/dwww.
    Changed dwwwconfig to create a copy instead of a symlink of the dwww cgi
    script to the effective cgi-bin directory if it is in a non-standard
    location.  (Bug#11584,22018,22153,22173,23439)
  * Fix $ENV{PATH} in /usr/lib/dwww/dwww.cgi ; don't be so paranoid that
    dwww's children can't find basic stuff like grep and awk anymore.
    (Bug#16506,19045)
  * The "_" character is not a real security hazard. But it is used in a
    surprisingly high number of documentation filenames.
    (Bug#18203,18356,22229,23440)
  * Actually install dwww.1 manpage.  (Bug#9366,9369,9817)
  * Remove old backup file dwww.cgi~ from the source
  * Fixed the following reported lintian errors & warnings:
     - binaries w/o manpages (linked to undocumented.7.gz);  (Bug#8327)
     - don't compress copyright file;
     - do compress manpages;  (Bug#15706)
     - made symlinks to cgidir and webroot absolute.
    This should leave only the warning about the standards version, which
    is a good reminder to really audit dwww sometime soon. (Bug#6356)
  * No need to use the anti-social bashist "function" keyword in a /bin/sh
    script. ;-) (Bug#23624,10713)
  * Added descriptions for manpages in section 3thr (Bug#8875) and section 1db.
  * Added postrm script that can purge /etc/dwww/dwww.conf. (Bug#18110)
  * Added perl to the Depends: because dwwwconfig uses Getopts::Long which
    is only available in perl. (Bug#9101)
  * Added Suggests: lynx.  (Bug#23546)
  * Upped the upstreams version number.

dwww - Read all on-line documentation via WWW
dwww 1.4.3.2-0.1 -> 1.4.3.3-0.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/doc
dwww 1.4.3.2-0.1 -> 1.4.3.3-0.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/doc
dwww (1.4.3.3-0.1) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * Back out chowning group of /var/spool/dwww in /usr/sbin/dwwwconfig.
    (Bug#237716)

    becomes installable.

libg++27 2.7.2.1-14.4 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/oldlibs
libg++27 (2.7.2.1-14.4) frozen unstable; urgency=high (Fixes compiling with libs)
  * Fixed lib{std,g++}.so symlinks again (they were made symbolic last time,
    but were dangling :-( ).
    The broken symlinks broke compiling binaries that use these libraries;
    I consider this an important enough problem to submit this fixed version
    for frozen.

metamail - An implementation of MIME.
metamail 2.7-27 -> 2.7-28 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/mail
metamail 2.7-27 -> 2.7-28 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/mail

python (1.5.1-4) frozen; urgency=high
  * Now back to using Makefile.pre.in template from upstream (closes
    #23168, important). Changed python-dev/README.Debian to reflect
    this. The intended change of behavior is now projected for slink.

sendmail - A powerful mail transport agent.
sendmail 8.8.8-16 -> 8.8.8-18 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/mail
sendmail (8.8.8-18) frozen; urgency=high
  * Repackaged to apply only to frozen, and bump the severity
    because this problem (22747) has sufficient consequences
    to warrant a change in hamm - only the alias file is changed,
    and it will impact primarily *NEW* installations of sendmail.

sendmail - A powerful mail transport agent.
sendmail 8.8.8-18 -> 8.8.8-19 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/mail

bsdgames (2.1-3) frozen unstable; urgency=medium
  * Reluctantly removed all sgid bits from all games in the package.
    I have found at least 2 easy exploits of a sgid bit that get you sgid
    games shells, and there are probably many more. See the TODO, which has
    a security audit as it's first priority, but explains the difficulties
    of one.
  * Added a README.Debian exaplaining this in greater detail.

kbd - Linux console font and keytable utilities.
kbd 0.95-15 -> 0.95-16 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/base
kbd (0.95-16) frozen; urgency=medium
  * Have postinst script remove old buggy '/etc/rcS.d/S??keymaps.sh'
    symlink with question marks in the filename, which made postinst
    obscurely break (Fixes: Bug#20935, Bug#21109, Bug#23639 - important).

kterm      - Multi-lingual terminal emulator for X.
kterm 6.2.0-11 -> 6.2.0-12 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/x11

kterm (6.2.0-12) frozen unstable; urgency=medium
  * BugFixed: install kterm command with bad file permission.
    Can't save file permission by dh_suidregister, so change order
    dh_fixperms and dh_suidregister.

octave (2.0.13-4) frozen unstable; urgency=medium, Closes=23674
  * Applied patch by Roman Hodek <Roman.Hodek@informatik.uni-erlangen.de>
    to configure{,.in} to also use the -rpath linker option on non-Intel
    Linux systems to allow for dynamic linking of Octave libraries. While
    this change does not affect i386 systems, it fixes an important bug for
    other Debian architectures and should go into frozen (fixes #23674)
  * Changed debian/rules to use --with-f2c argument for configure under
    m68k, and --with-g77 (from the egcs suite) under i386, sparc and alpha.

watchdog 3.1-1 -> 3.3-1.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/admin
watchdog 3.3-1.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/admin
watchdog (3.3-1.1) frozen unstable; urgency=medium
  * Non-maintainer release
  * Fix typo in /etc/init.d/watchdog ($run_watchdog instead of
    $run_cucipop) Fixes: #19763
  * Make it compile with current libc6-dev (2.0.7pre*) again. For this an
    additional #undef _LINUX_TYPES_H is needed in mount/nfsmount.c.
    Fixes: #23444

altgcc (2.7.2.2-3.4) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * [gcc/gcc.c] There is one call to choose_temp_base for determining
    the tempdir to be used only; #ifdef HAVE_MKSTEMP delete the tempfile
    created as a side effect. (fixes #23123 for altgcc).

apt        - Front-End for dpkg
apt 0.0.13 -> 0.0.17-1 into project/experimental
apt (0.0.17-1) frozen experimental; urgency=low

    being.

cdrecord   - CD writing tool
cdrecord 1.5-2 -> 1.6final-0.2 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/otherosfs
cdrecord 1.6final-0.2 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/otherosfs
cdrecord (1:1.6final-0.2) unstable frozen; urgency=low
  * Fixes build on m68k (closes Bug #23631)
  * Fixed so it doesn't poke about in /opt/schily during build/install
    thanks to Paul Slootman <paul@debian.org>. (closes Bug #22953).
  * Maintainer Release (I have recovered from surgery and am nearly
    done with radiation therapy now).

debhelper - helper programs for debian/rules
debhelper 0.93 -> 0.94 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/devel
debhelper (0.94) unstable; urgency=low
  * dh_md5sums: fixed so it handles spaces and other odd characters in
    filenames correctly. (#23046, #23700, #22010)
  * As a side effect, got rid of the nasty temporary file dh_md5sums used
    before.

debhelper - helper programs for debian/rules
debhelper 0.94 -> 0.95 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/devel
debhelper (0.95) unstable; urgency=low
  * dh_movefiles: move even very strangly named files. (#23775) Unfortunatly,
    I had to use a temporary file. Oh well..

dhcp 1.0.1-1 -> 1.0.1-1.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-m68k/net
dhcp (1.0.1-1.1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Non-maintainer upload that fixes "important" bug #23087. I applied a
    patch sent by the upstream maintainer that fixes the problem of
    clients not being able to renew their leases when too many options
    are set in /etc/dhcpd.conf.

diald - dial on demand daemon for PPP and SLIP.
diald 0.16.4-11 -> 0.16.5-2.0.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-m68k/net

vm - A mail user agent for Emacs
vm 6.48-1 -> 6.51-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/mail
vm (6.51-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * New upstream version. Excerpted changes:
    * don't call make-face if no face support is compiled into Emacs
      (FSF Emacs only).
    * enable inline display of text/html again.
    * vm-mime-text-type-p: anchor string matches and add a trailing /
      to assure matching only the correct types.
    * more fiddling with newlines around the Content-Description
      header, hopefully getting it right this time.
    * correct "Display as Text" MIME menu item.
    * vm-mime-charset-internally-displayable-p: check
      vm-mime-mule-charset-to-coding-alist if vm-fsfemacs-mule-p is
      non-nil.
    * vm-rename-current-mail-buffer: changed to recognize new default
      composition buffer name introduced in 6.49.
    * vm-mime-display-external-generic: append filename when supporting
      COMMAND-LINE form. Copy program-list since we may need to modify
      it.
    * vm-discard-cached-data: set mime layout and mime encoded header
      slots to nil in virtual messages.
    * vm-session-initialization: initialize gui-button-face if not
      already initialized (FSF Emacs only).
    * vm-pop-move-mail: check vm-pop-auto-expunge-alist properly;
      defaulting did not work as you would expect.
    * enable image and multiple font support for Windows (XEmacs only).
    * provide Content-Description headers for text surrounding
      MIME attachments in compositions.
    * vm-forward-message: provide Content-Description header for a
      MIME forwarded message.
    * use same filename extension as that of the suggested attachment
      filename when creating a tempfile for use by an external MIME
      viewer.
    * New variables:
      + vm-infer-mime-types
    * vm-pop-check-mail: return nil if UIDL returns an empty list.
    * vm-mail-internal: default composition buffer name to "mail to ?"
      instead of "*VM-mail*".
    * added '$' to regexps in default value of
      vm-mime-attachment-auto-type-alist.
    * new semantics for vm-mime-external-content-types-alist: %-spec
      expansion, shell command line syntax allowed.
    * default value of vm-auto-decode-mime-messages changed from nil
      to t.
