New Debian sparc Packages

These sparc packages were installed into the Debian hierarchy in the
last week:

----- !!! HIGH URGENCY PACKAGES !!! -----

boot-floppies - Scripts to create the Debian installation floppy set.
boot-floppies 2.0.5 -> 2.0.6 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies 2.0.5 -> 2.0.6 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/admin
boot-floppies (2.0.6) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * base system: added qftp package, removed usr/bin/ftp
  * base system: purge pcmcia packages if not used at install time
    (but first ask for confirmation).
  * pkgsel: use the right value for ADMINDIR
  * dinstall/baseconfig.c: New fix for the "de-latin1-nodeadkeys" bug. Fix
    by Nils Rennebarth.
  * dinstall/choose_medium.c: Build lists of directories only if the user
    selects the "list" option. (Modifications done by Luis Gonzalez)
  * dinstall/choose_medium.c: Trim string length in directories list if it
    doesn't fit in the dialog box. (Modifications done by Luis Gonzalez)
  * dinstall/choose_medium.c: Remember previous selection, and offer it
    as default the next time.
  * dinstall/netconfig.c: Check that the directory exists before writing
    ppp-flag-file. Fixes the "if-I-answer-no-to-the-do-you-have-a-network-
    dialog,-dinstall-restarts" bug.
  * dinstall/tzconfig.c: Sort the zones/cities lists. (Modifications done
    by Luis Gonzalez)
  * libfdisk/fdisk.c: Skip CD-ROM drives when looking for partitions.
    Fix by Akira Yoshiyama, modified by Roman Hodek and E. Zanardi.

dpkg-perl - Perl interface modules for dpkg
dpkg-python - Python interface modules for dpkg
dpkg-perl 0.1-2 -> 0.1-2hamm1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/devel
dpkg-python 0.1-2 -> 0.1-2hamm1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/devel
dpkg-scriptlib (0.1-2hamm1) frozen; urgency=high (for dpkg-perl)
  * Non maintainer upload.
  * dpkg-perl depends on perl-base, not on perl (Fixes #21773, #22526).
  * Replace postinst of dpkg-python with prerm and don't depend
    on installed python executable (Fixes #13004, #20443, #21121).

----- MEDIUM Urgency Packages -----------

base-files - Debian Base System Miscellaneous Files
base-files 1.9 -> 2.0 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/base
base-files 1.9 -> 2.0 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/base
base-files (2.0) frozen unstable; urgency=medium
  * Removed the "frozen" word from /etc/debian_version.
  * Removed the use of the ROOT variable in preinst and postinst for two
    reasons: a) It is no longer needed, since the base system is built
    by using dpkg's --root=dir option, which works in a chrooted environment;
    and b) Unexpected results would be obtained if user root had actually
    defined a variable named ROOT.

----- Low Urgency Packages --------------

ae         - Anthony's Editor -- a tiny full-screen editor
ae 962-19 -> 962-20 into dists/hamm/main/binary-sparc/base
ae 962-19 -> 962-20 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/base
ae (962-20) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * fixed /bin/vi shell script to handle both quoted file names
  *     and the lack of any arguments using the ${1+"$@"}
  * construct suggested by Richard Braakman: fixes 20415
  * also fixed inverted logic in same shell script.

debian-policy - Debian Policy Manual and related documents
debian-policy 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/doc
debian-policy 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/doc
debian-policy (2.4.1.1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Orphaned package

developers-reference - Debian Developer's Reference
developers-reference 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/doc
developers-reference 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/doc
developers-reference (2.4.1.1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Orphaned package

doc-html-w3 - Recommendations of the W3
doc-html-w3 98.04-1 -> 98.05-1 into dists/slink/non-free/binary-all/doc
doc-html-w3 (98.05-1) non-free; urgency=low
  * CSS 2

doc-linux-de - Linux HOWTOs in German
doc-linux-de 98.04-1 -> 98.05-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/doc
doc-linux-de (98.05-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * INN-Newsspool mini-HOWTO (v1.2)
  * de.comp.os.linux.misc FAQ

dpkg-repack - attempts to put an unpacked .deb file back together
dpkg-repack 0.16 -> 0.17 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/admin
dpkg-repack (0.17) unstable; urgency=low
  * Uses dpkg for querying the status file and getting the file list, rather
    than doing it by hand. However, dpkg-repack still accesses the dpkg
    database directly, becuase it copies maintainer scripts, etc, from
    there. There is no way to get that information via dpkg.
  * Fixed  bug #22603 - a failure when eg. /usr is a symlink.
    .
    If the package contains a file, that locally looks like a symlink
    pointing to a directory that is not in the package, then change it to a
    real directory in the repacked package. This assummes that in this case,
    the symlink was a local change (eg, /usr is a symlink).
    .
    However, if the directory in question contains no files in the filelist
    for this package, don't do that, just preserve the symlink in the repacked
    package. This handles the case where a package contains a symlink to a
    directory elsewhere.

filerunner - X-Based FTP program & file manager
filerunner 2.4.1-2 -> 2.4.2.p1-1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-sparc/net
filerunner 2.4.1-2 -> 2.4.2.p1-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/net
filerunner (2.4.2.p1-1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * New upstream release
  * SECURITY: Fixes /tmp vulnerability (upstream patch)

lintian    - Debian package checker
lintian 0.4.4 -> 0.4.5 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/devel
lintian (0.4.5) unstable; urgency=low
  * (depcheck/) New directory, containing scripts for generating reports
    about broken dependency relationships in the main distribution.
    These are not installed by the lintian deb, they are intended for
    use by the lintian web pages, which use the source package directly.
  * (reports/harness) Added hooks to call the depcheck scripts to generate
    the depcheck page.
  * (reports/html_reports) Add links from the lintian root page to the
    depcheck page.
  * (checks/menus) A tag was still generating "existance" while its
    description had been corrected to "existence"; the html report
    generator complained about that.  Fixed.
  * (unpack/list-binpkg) Bugfix in lintian --setup-lab. Instead of
    looking for files in binary-$arch and binary-all, look only in
    binary-$arch and follow the symlinks.
  * (lib/text_utils.pl) Changed "&maint;" name from Christian Schwarz
    to Richard Braakman, and changed mail address to lintian-maint@debian.org.
  * (checks/standards-version) If checking a package with a Standards-Version
    that is newer than the one lintian is written for, warn that lintian
    should be upgraded.  (closes: #22919).
  * (checks/standards-version.dsc)
    New tag: newer-standards-version
  * (checks/debian-readme) New check: at James Troup's suggestion,
    scan for unmodified deb-make templates in README.Debian files.
    New tags:
      readme-debian-is-debmake-template
      readme-debian-contains-debmake-template
  * (checks/debian-readme.desc) Describe new tags.
  * (collection/debian-readme) New collection script for README.Debian file.
  * (man/lintian.1) Describe new check and collection script.
  * (doc/libtool-rpath-workaround.txt) Explain how to achieve the same
    result without touching configure.in and rerunning autoconf, provided
    certain conditions hold.
  * (lib/text_utils.pl, frontend/lintian-info, reporting/html_reports)
    Do not split words that are longer than a line. This fixes the
    "Poli cy" bug in the lintian HTML reports.
  * (checks/standards-version.desc) Corrected the URL to Christian's
    policy upgrading checklist, which seems to have changed from
    "upgrading.html" to "upgrading-checklist.html".
  * (info/override) Removed another *.pm warning, I missed it the last time.

lintian    - Debian package checker
lintian 0.4.5 -> 0.4.6 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/devel
lintian (0.4.6) unstable; urgency=low
  * (debian/control)
    Lintian now depends on perl, since perl-base is not enough. It already
    uses Text::Wrap, which is only in perl, and soon it will also use
    Getopt::Long.
  * (reporting/html_reports)
    Report all dates in GMT, in rfc822 format.
  * (debian/rules)
    In clean target, delete byte-compiled python files (*.pyc) as well.
  * (depcheck/dependencies.py)
    Check "Cannot satisfy without packages in base" before checking
    "Cannot satisfy with required packages", because a dependency will
    be listed in only one category, and the former is more important
    to flag.
  * (frontent/lintian)
    Rewrote option handling to use Getopt::Long, thus allowing nifty
    features like bundling of single-character options. Closes wishlist
    bug#22566.

makepatch - generate patch files with more functionality than plain diff
makepatch 1.13-1 -> 1.13-3 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/utils
makepatch 1.13-3 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/utils
makepatch (1.13-3) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Oops, upload to frozen in addition to unstable. This version contains
    only two bug fixes, one is for a security hole (#21563).
  * Update the list of changes from the standard distribution in the
    copyright file.

mon - monitor hosts/services/whatever and alert about problems
mon 0.37k-1 -> 0.37k-2 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/admin
mon (0.37k-2) unstable; urgency=low
  * Add patch from Dave Holland to allow smtp.monitor to handle multiline
    responses (closes: #21274).

packaging-manual - Debian Packaging Manual
packaging-manual 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/doc
packaging-manual 2.4.1.0 -> 2.4.1.1 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/doc
packaging-manual (2.4.1.1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Orphaned package

picon-news - Picon (Personal Images) db of Usenet newsgroups and hierarchies
picon-news 1998.04.20-2 -> 1998.05.27-1 into dists/slink/contrib/binary-all/graphics
picon-news (1998.05.27-1) unstable; urgency=low
  * New upstream release.

sysvinit   - System-V like init.
sysvinit 2.74-4 -> 2.75-1 into dists/hamm/main/binary-sparc/base
sysvinit 2.74-4 -> 2.75-1 into dists/slink/main/binary-sparc/base
sysvinit (2.75-1) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Rewrote last.c to be much more memory friendly and correct,
    thanks to Nick Andrew <nick@zeta.org.au> and
    David Parrish <dparrish@zeta.org.au>
  * Fixes bugs:
    #21616: sysvinit: sulogin thinks md5 root password is bad
    #21765: sysvinit: Typo in `killall5.c'
    #21775: sysvinit: sysvinit does not support MD5 hashed passwords
    #21990: /usr/bin/last: unnecessary memset and off-by-one bug
    #22023: sysvinit: nfs isn't mounted
    #22084: sysvinit 2.74-4: SIGPWR missing on sparc
    #21900: init, powerfail events, and shutdown.allow
    #21702: init 0 does not work as expected...
    #21728: sysvinit: Typo in `init.c'
    #22363: sysvinit: discrepance btw. manpage and /sbin/init
    #22579: power-off on halt

w3-el - Hypertext (World Wide Web) browser for emacs.

w3-el 4.0pre.14-4 -> 4.0pre.14-5 into dists/slink/main/binary-all/web
w3-el (4.0pre.14-5) frozen unstable; urgency=low
  * Make it depend on emacs20 (>= 20.1) and only install under emacs20,
    because it doesn't work under emacs19 and it's included in the base
    install for xemacs{19,20}.

dejagnu 1.3-971222-0.1 into project/experimental
