It is more likely either a hardware problem with your CD drive or a problem with the kernel driver used to access your drive. You can test an image by using <back up> option to go to the main menu and selecting the option to validate the CD. There are known problems installing Debian on some hardware. Changing the DMA setting for the CD drive sometimes helps: - switch to VT2 (alt-F2) - cd /proc/ide/hdX (X varies depending on where your CD drive is connected) - cat settings - check the current setting for using_dma - change it using the command: echo "using_dma:0" >settings (or :1) - switch back to VT1 (alt-F1) Cheers, FJP
