I just discovered the same thing.

DVD #2 is fine of course, but DVD #1 won't fit on my DVD+RW media (which  
is of
course preferable media), while it does fit in my DVD-R media.  Perhaps the
images need to be made 5 or 10M smaller than they currently are as a limit.
