Most folks here use 4.7gb media, afaik, and I use 4.7 media myself, the 
4.7gb size allows you to burn a single sided dvd-r or a double sided 
dvd-r for 9.4gb on the same burner. I am not sure kind what kind of 
buner it takes to do double layer on a single side, ~17gb, but afaik, 
this is not as common a burner.
