FWIW, I built CDs a few days ago from my woody mirror and the loop problem
was gone. In fact, I encountered no serious problems during the install
system that I can remember, only problems getting packages configured. (e.g.
not loading the USB mouse driver so X wouldn't start, fun fun fun).
