Hello, I'm testet the CD-Image from 
http://www.phy.olemiss.edu/debian-cd/woody-i386-1.raw
it have failures in kernel 2.4.x,
after selecting the filesystems (all) and formating the selcted partition the 
system is not able to mount the new partiton.
With kernel 2.2.x the formating and mounting of the root-partition works fine
I've not testet everthing, so if I found more failures I will post here more
