RE: Multiple boot images for CD1

I know the other CD's will boot other images, but I'm looking for a single
CD solution. Pop in CD1/Install and choose your poison :) If one boot
image doesn't work, try another very easily, just pick it from a menu.

It wouldn't break anything that currently works. Any system that can boot a
CD will work with a pseudo-boot-loader like diskemu - that only presents a
menu and allows you to choose the actual image that will be booted.

It's better than the El Torito method, because it will work with *any*
system that can boot from CD. Not just the ones with correct working
multi-boot bios's, but any.

And not just Debian install kernels. I would like to see a RescueCD type
choice (like Timo's) as well, perhaps a couple of versions. The menu would
look something like this :

Debian Standard normal standard install kernel
Debian IDE contains UDMA-66 patch
Debian Compact non-critical drivers removed, more PCI drivers
compiled in
Debian IDPpci similar, no SCSI and with even more PCI drivers
compiled in
Debian ReiserFS slimmed kernel with reiserfs functionality, scsi and
ide
Debian Safe uses Syslinux "slow and stupid" mode for old
and buggy BIOS's
Rescue RAMdisk full rescue environment running from ramdisk - needs
64meg minimum
Rescue CD full rescue environment running from CD -
note: cannot change CD after boot
SCSITools DOS boot with lots of scsi tools

I want that CD1/Install to be a jack-of-all-trades :) No matter what you
trying to do, just boot from CD1.

There's a wishlist bug report about that on debian-cd ...

No, you can also boot from CD2 or 3 which use those images.

It's probably a good idea, but it's not a solution if it breaks the boot
process on older system which used to be able to boot on CD.
