Bug#632452: screen stops working after upgrading to 2.13-8

After upgrading 2.13-7 to 2.13-8, screen stops working.  When run it
prints the following errors:

  No more PTYs.  
  Sorry, could not find a PTY.  

I suspect this might have been introduced with r3435:
