It has to be a real box for various reasons, the main one is that we
have to use a kernel from our repository as we have a few patches in it.
Then the box needs to accept SSH connections, and has to be able to send
and receive mails. Last but not least some packages (e.g. gcc) takes 
already a long time to build and it would take longer (i.e. too long) if 
the machine is doing other things

All that said, I agree it should be possible to setup a build daemon in
a jail, but it won't have any benefit compared to the current setup.
