dpkg only works with binary packages. There are tools for extracting
source packages and creating them, but nothing more. You don't install
them and they don't have a standard location (like /usr/src or /usr/local/src
or /usr/src/redhat on a RH system).

Here at Debian we consider that idea out-dated :-)
