Perfect, thanks. That confirms there's no mention of cirrus thing in there, so the installer code looking for missing firmware in dmesg cannot work. Coupled with the lack of modalias information in the firmware-cirrus package, I don't see how the installer could do anything about it. Tempted to call this a firmware-cirrus bug, and I'm happy for the kernel team to steal this bug report away from us if they agree.
