Re: Upload now? (Re: Make d-i packages usrmerge-ready?)

Hallo Holger,

Only glancing at it, my first question would have been “is it really OK
to drop etc/network from debian/ethdetect.dirs”?

A quick survey suggests those exist:

    hw-detect.sh: mkdir -p /etc/network
    net-hotplug.sh:	mkdir -p /etc/network

but there's also a Makefile that creates that directory locally, then we
end up shipping ./etc/network/devnames-static.gz so there's indeed no
need for it in the .dirs…

Given the nature of the changes in those two packages, it looks
reasonable to just source-upload them without a confirmation with a
local build, and either fix whatever build failures might happen on the
buildds, or if that doesn't happen and if you feel like it, you can
double check the contents of the package once it's built on buildds.

If that was about deeper changes, I'd recommend looking into porterboxes
(https://dsa.debian.org/doc/schroot/) but that seems a little overkill
here.

Absolutely, thanks so much for preparing that, and sorry for not
answering sooner… (Also, see other reply in the thread regarding not
blocking on me at this point).

Cheers,
