Package: keyboard-configuration Version: 1.238 Severity: normal Tags: patch X-Debbugs-Cc: noisycoil@tutanota.com, noisycoil@disroot.org Dear Maintainer, Earlier today in Bananas Team we received multiple reports that keyboard- configuration is broken on Apple laptops with arm64 CPUs: reconfiguring the package throws the errors ``` cat: '/sys/bus/usb/devices/*:*/bInterfaceClass': No such file or directory cat: '/sys/bus/usb/devices/*:*/bInterfaceSubClass': No such file or directory cat: '/sys/bus/usb/devices/*:*/bInterfaceProtocol': No such file or directory ``` and refuses to go ahead with the configuration. I could reproduce this bug on my machine. It happens because the keyboard_present function is unable to detect the laptops' keyboards. In attachment you will find a patch to enable detection by adding the relevant strings to the matching pattern for /proc/bus/input/devices. I tested it works on the M1 MacBook Pro and M2 MacBook Air, and expect it will on the other laptops too. We would be very grateful if a fixed release could land in trixie, as this is a major blocker for our first-boot configuration of installations with no desktop environment. If you agree and wish me to, I could take care of the unblock request. I see v1.238 needs unblocking too, but the delta only contains translations as far as I can see, so I think the two unblocks could be filed as one. Cheers!Attachment: keyboard_present.sh-detect-Apple-MTP-and-SPI-keyboar.patch
