The alpha1 image has gotten a bit outdated.
Maybe you could retry with the netinst.iso from
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/amd64/iso-cd/

... just to make sure we are not hunting a bug which is no longer there ...
