That's a very interesting data point, thanks: that's not a limitation of the installer environment then, most likely a problem with the Linux kernel modules and/or firmware for this particular bit of hardware. You could maybe give bookworm-backports a shot (sticking to a bookworm baseline)? Or maybe you could look into the brand new Trixie Alpha 1 images we've just published (with a trixie aka. testing baseline)? (Possibly just checking the wireless connection part, without installing everything again… with a testing base this time.)
