Package: debian-installer
Severity: minor
Version: 20210731+deb11u5

Hello,

I see in linux sourcepackage in bullseye different ABI d-i-packages.

Example: linux sourcepackage 5.10.140-1:
This sourcepackage contains the binary packages:
- affs-modules-5.10.0-16-4kc-malta-di
- affs-modules-5.10.0-18-4kc-malta-di
There are some more d-i-packages with ABI -16 and ABI -18.

packages.debian.org shows for linux sourcepackage:
- bullseye: 5.10.140-1: 821 binary packages with ABI -16 and ABI -18
- bookworm: 5.19.6-1: 555 binary packages with ABI -1 only

I don't know, if this is intended or not.
I don't know also, if this affects only d-i-packages.

Best regards and thank you for your support.
Bernhard

Right, for various reasons, binary packages for the old ABIs are kept.
Updates can come via bullseye-proposed-updates and/or bullseye-security.

That's not a problem: when a new point release is published, usually,
the installer is rebuilt against the latest ABI available.

And now with -2.

I'm not seeing any problems with what you're reporting, the number of
packages and ABIs in each suite evolves over time. Everything looks
nominal to me.

Closing this bug report accordingly, thanks for checking with us anyway.
