Comments/Problems:

I partitioned both disks identically:

#
3   2.0TB     K    raid
2   1  GB          ext4  /boot (on sda)  not used (on sdb)
1   38.8 MB   B    fat32  efi  (on sda)  not used (on sdb)

The RAID seemed to create OK, but when I wanted to subdivide it via LVM, the installer seemed to begin the process of configuring the logical volumes by saving the RAID configuration (committing to it).  That's when it failed.  On console 4 I found the message about libsystemd.so.0 not being found.  Near as I can tell, that lib is not provided by the installer (?).

I'm reporting the problem from another machine, so I have deleted the automatically-generated info that normally would appear below.
