I tried to follow the instructions from section 4.4:
http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/ch04s04.html

Unfortunately syslinux is not usable with my USB key:
$ sudo syslinux /dev/sda1
syslinux: only 512-byte sectors are supported

And effectively dmesg says:
SCSI device sda: 498175 2048-byte hdwr sectors (1020 MB)

sda: Mode Sense: 00 00 00 00
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
 sda: sda1

I'd suggest to document that limitation and how to check the size of the
sectors of your key.

I googled for a solution but I found none. Maybe we will have one for
lenny but right now I see nothing.
