If I'm getting this right, the udeb part shouldn't be much of an issue, but the change regarding the fresh install vs. grub-install /could/ have side effects. As documented, the installer /should/ be doing the right thing already (via grub-installer), but checking (if only for peace of mind) would be best. In the interest of not delaying this request any longer, I'd suggest accepting the package into pu, and I'll perform run-time checks when the updated grub2 binaries have reached s-p-u.
