Version: Debian 9.4 amd64 CD/DVD 1 copied to USB with DD. Network updates during install = yes.

Sudo is not installed by default. verified with apt-cache policy sudo command as root. None/not installed/command not found.

This is not the main bug, this is the result of the installer breaking sources.list. after sources.list is broken, it can not install sudo. This is my guess.

I can confirm that on first boot, sources.list has the first line for CD-ROM commented with # but then two lines down there is an exact duplicate added that does not have #. It appears that the installer is removing and adding the same source without checking if it is already listed. The installer has on screen instructions for the user to remove the install media before first boot but sources.list will look for the install media and not failover to the next source in the list if the install media is not present.

Work around is to edit sources.list by removing or commenting the two identical CD-ROM sources.

Also need to apt install sudo. Adduser Foo sudo. Visudo then manually add Foo same as root. Not sure why adduser Foo sudo is not sufficient alone.

Extra information to reproduce the bug:

Install method is erase and format use entire drive with guided partitioning LVM no encryption.

Towards the end of the install I did choose in install grub using default settings before first boot. Not sure if grub is editing sources.list. grub may be irrelevant to this bug.
