When I try:

$ qemu-system-x86_64 -cdrom *.iso -nographic -vga none

My terminal turns into a GRUB boot menu, where I can edit the 'Install' option (by removing 'quiet' and 'vga=788') into:

/install.amd/vmlinuz initrd=/install.amd/initrd.gz --- console=ttyS0

Which gets me booting kernel messages, can you try that?

(Booting still fails with a "Failed to execute /init (error -2)" in my case, but that'd be a separate bug if it's not a problem with my setup.)
