Bug#933978: installation-reports: Use of GUI install fails on upgrade from Stretch to Buster - GTX 660

Package: installation-reports
Severity: normal
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I was upgrading using command line terminal emulator inside XFCE 4.12 and got a
kernel panic. Reboot also gave kernel panic, even in recovery mode (level1).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Wiped / partition (but not /home or others) and started install. Using
graphical option, it repeatedly just stalled during the portion of the process
after all of the initial questions, and after selection of what to install,
e.g., Gnome, XFCE, etc. Twice it stalled on "boxer."

Repeated using command line install, and I was able to get far enough along to
enable resuming install from local store (copied CDs on another machine).

There was an additional strange issue. The CD/DVD drive normally responds to
the button on it by opening. But during the install, I always had to open the
slide with a paperclip to make it respond to the button so I could change DVDs.
I never have seen this at any other time.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I was able to restore by creating a script using the output of dpkg --get-
selections "*" - first by using DVDs, then local store.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

See above.
